Gender Stereotypes, Soundscapes, Automotive Careers and Troy (May 7-11)

Media Studies 120
The students will finish their exploration on how media impacts gender, particularly around expectations of male and female roles. The students will view the documentary The Mask You Live In which follows boys and young men in their struggle dealing with the limited definition of masculinity in North America. Following the documentary, the students will have a class discussion and we also further explore a chosen issue related to this documentary or from one of the documentaries viewed last week. Digital Production 120
The students will continue the Digital Audio Unit this week, exploring and making sound effects and then doing the follow assignment by creating a Soundscape. The assignments and links to student blogs can be viewed here.

BBT 10
Students are reminded they should be finishing their third unit on Monday. The majority of the students are working on either the Business and Enterprise Unit (Concert Planning) or the Automotive Technology Unit. Students will then begin their fourth unit. History 10
The class will continue with the study of Ancient Greece this week. The students will complete their study of the Mycenaean period by watching the film Troy and then viewing the documentary, The True Story of TroyIf time permits, the students will then continue their study of Ancient Greece by looking at the Greek Dark Ages followed by the rise of the city-states and colonization.
