Media Studies 120

Course Content: This is a semester course that offers students an opportunity to foster critical skills as media consumers and provides a space to develop a capacity as media creators. As technology evolves, learners must be prepared to navigate the new complexes of ever- changing media landscapes. It is important to understand the role and power that media holds in society. Media literacy expands traditional literacy to include new forms of reading, representing and communicating. The big challenge for students in this course is to foster “a critical eye” as we explore media and also to keep an “open mind” and be respectful of various opinions and viewpoints.
